URGENT prayer request

If you are reading this and you are a Christian please pray for my dear friend and brother in the Lord's son. Cory the founder and president of The Cross Current has a son named Joshua. This little guy preaches the Gospel in purity and completeness even though he's only 7 years old. Josh has been suffering some strange attacks that present like severe shock. I'm not going to detail all the symptoms but he has just been taken to the Hospital again, this has happened several times but this time seems particularly serious.

Please pray for his healing, and strengthening, protection and really protection and faithfulness of Cory and his wife Dawn as they face this situation with the Lord. Please do this right now, the moment you read this.

Update: Just heard from one of our team that Joshua had a heart arrhythmia that brought his heart rate to above 200bpm.

I should know more soon.

Thank you for your prayers.

The Doctors are going to be medicating Josh for the arrhythmia and monitoring him for the next few days.

I just want to publicly thank God for his giving the family peace today. As they sat with Josh it must have been next to impossible not to be thinking about their first son, Canaan who passed away shortly after he was born.

I just spoke with Dawn, Cory's wife and she told me they did have that peace that surpasses all understanding as they were in the hospital tonight.

Please continue to pray for this family.

Hey Kev,

Please forward this email update to anyone who has been praying for Joshua.

First, thank you so much for your prayers and please continue praying for our boy...he needs it, and so do we. Joshua was at a birthday party today when his heartrate spiked and would not come down. Dawn wisely phoned EMS, who came onsite within just a few minutes. They decided to bring him into Emergency immediately. Unfortunately, I was on the streets witnessing when I received the call from the lady hosting the birthday party. She indicated that I needed to get to the hospital right away. Needless to say, I was quite concerned in the car on the way there.

It took the medical team a little while to get his heartrate back to normal, but during that time they were able to get several tests completed. Afterwards we spoke to a cardiologist and she believes that Joshua has what's called arrhythmiea, which is an intermittently irregular heartbeat. Believe it or not, the condition is quite common and can usually be controlled with medication. They have decided to keep him for a few days to confirm the diagnosis and to test his response to the medication. Dawn will be staying with him during this time and I will be looking after Caleb.

Once again, we thank God for each one of you and sincerely thank you for your continued prayers.

In His Grip,
Cory, Dawn, Joshua and Caleb

Here's another prayer update from Cory

Hello everyone.

Just sending through an update on Joshua.

We are very thankful for God's grace and provision over these past couple of days. Joshua seems to be tolerating the new medication quite well and he hasn't experienced any sense of "chest rumbling" over the past 36 hours or so. His EKG also came back healthy today as well. Praise God!

The only challenge tonight is that his heart rate has dropped a few times into the high 40's when has been in deep sleep. This is to be expected, considering the fact that they have been giving him the medication at around 8pm at night. We're obviously not doctors, but Dawn has wisely asked the nurses whether it may make more sense to giv it to him first thing in the morning when he'll be most active as opposed to later at night when he's going to bed? They explained that he's been taking at night due to when he arrived in Emergency though they agreed that it may be a good itdea to try to gradually shift it earlier into the day. We'll be asking the cardiologist this tomorrow as well.

Tomorrow (Tuesday) he'll be having a "stress test" at 1:30pm to see how his heart responds/recovers from physical activity. Please pray that everything goes perfectly well with the test and that these "chest rumblings" and subsequent episodes end altogether. Please also pray that God gives Caleb peace throughout this time, as the whole experience has been somewhat confusing for him as well.

Thanks again for all your continued prayers and we humbly ask that you don't let down your prayer guard, as we're not quite out of the woods yet.

In His Grip,

Cory, Dawn, Joshua and Caleb
