Is The Burial Part Of The Gospel?

I have deleted the content of this post because it was promoting a disorderly Brother's attack on his former Pastor. I was not aware of this at the time but I am now.

Kev,

I appreciate this post and have linked to it from my blog. Thanks for posting this article which asks the important question: "Is The Burial Part Of The Gospel?" I just read this to my friend and he joked: "Is that a trick question?" But this question is as serious as the Gospel. As hard as it is to believe, there are those in the Free Grace movement who have actually removed Christ's burial from the Gospel that must be believed for eternal life! But only in the minds of Groundless Gospel advocates has the Gospel changed. In response to these new teachings I have written the multi-part series: "The Tragedy of the Groundless Gospel". Part 2 of the series shows that Christ's burial was indeed prophesied in the Old Testament.

Hey JP,

I don't want to take conversation away from your blog, but this response is really part of what I wrote above.

God works in "patterns" "types" "shadows" He does not share credit with anyone or anything. The things He does are always done "in order" so that we can KNOW it's Him. Even the blind see God's glory revealed in the Cosmos - Rom 1. It's because He does things in visible patterns (though not always understandable, they are recognizable) that it can be said those who don't put faith in Him have rejected them - because they really have. It's not just that they haven't been told.. or they didn't know. He has revealed Himself, you either believe or you reject.

Part of His pattern for Christ was His burial. If Christ did not fulfill the things that God said He would then it can not be "according to the Scriptures."

We are so often attacked for having a "laundry list" of things a person needs to believe to be saved.. our so called list is no longer than the Apostle's presentation (declaration) of the Gospel. We have neither added nor taken away. We have not added a stumbling stone before the feet of the sinner - as Lordship Salvation has, nor have we taken away the Object of our faith as have the Crossless (groundless) Gospel has.

I fear for people who say that the Apostle's Gospel declaration is not enough for a Sinner to be given Eternal Life, and for those who say it's too much.

Blessya!!

Kev,

Your statements are rich in Scriptural truth. I especially appreciated this comment:

"We are so often attacked for having a 'laundry list' of things a person needs to believe to be saved.. our so called list is no longer than the Apostle's presentation (declaration) of the Gospel. Those who remove Christ's burial from the Gospel that must be believed for eternal life beat against the anvil of God's Word, and as the old saying goes: "The hammer's gone, the anvil still remains."
