Evangelism 101: The Preliminary Trial

Here's another episode of A Christian in Canada Presents!

When we're witnessing with God to the lost we have no right to put them on trial. It is however, in their absolute best interest that we help them through a sort of preliminary hearing of the evidence that will be presented against them at their ultimate judgment if they don't plead guilty while they can. If one sees their guilt, then hears how that guilt has been paid for at the Cross, believes in the Gospel of Jesus Christ 1Cor 15:1-11 then they will be saved.

That's why we help them judge themselves, but never judge them ourselves.

Make sure you watch in HD!

Thanks Kev. That was very helpful. I really like the idea of getting them to plead guilty now and how their pride causes them to hold on to a self generated not guilty plea. That really is the place they need to get to when discussing salvation so Christ's sacrifice will have its proper relevance.

Hey Jan,

I can't tell you how many times I've had someone tell me they've "never heard Christianity explained like that before" and "wow, that actually makes sense to me now..."

When we talk about Salvation to people who don't think they need to be saved.. well of course it sounds like foolishness to them. Some strange religious thing..

Many many people say "Saved? Saved from what?"

North American culture perceives Jesus Christ like the Easter Bunny. A strange tale that we can't explain the roots of but some people truly believe it anyway...

People are anesthetized by entertainment and immediate worries - so they learn escapism quickly.

The Cross doesn't make sense until Hell makes sense. So, letting them see who they really are as a person really helps them see they need to be saved from the Judgment that they will surely face.

Not like you don't know all of this, but I definitely appreciate the opportunity to comment on it because many people just don't get it. "Jesus loves you" isn't compelling to the person who doesn't think they need Jesus, and has no idea what His love means.
