Zane Hodges home with the Lord

Zane Hodges has gone home to be with the Lord. My prayers are with his family and loved ones. Please read the statement at FaithAlone.org

That is decent of you to articulate a measure of compassion and say that your prayers are with his loved ones.

Hi Rose,

Zane is a Brother in the Lord. Nothing can change that. Besides, for the first time in a very long time I'm a bit envious of him. :)

I know that this is a painful time for many people. Lose is never easy for us to deal with. Even though we celebrate his going Home, I know it will be with a great measure of suffering for those yet left behind.

The sad truth is that even though Hodges was a brother in Christ, his legacy is that he systematically chipped away at the necessary and biblical contents of saving faith until there was almost nothing left that resembled God’s redemptive plan of salvation for the lost.

His Crossless gospel introduced “division and offences” (Rom. 16:17) into the body of Christ and harmed the cause of Christ.

His final article The Hydra’s Other Head: Theological Legalism exemplified the degree to which Hodges had checked out on Scripture and in it he condemned the rest of the FG community who would not accept his reductionist views.

That is the sad and tragic legacy of Zane Hodges.

Lou just cannot leave well enough alone.

Zane Hodges preached faith alone in Christ alone. Lou preaches Christ AND...

Enough said

Antonio,

Zane did not finish well. He perverted the Gospel, as you do also. He was saved by Grace and for much of his life he did do well.

In his latter years he found himself in disagreement with the Apostles and instead of repenting he rose up against them. As you do also. He has become of of the "Super Apostles" that Paul rebuked the Corinthian Church about. He put himself there, and I believe you are striving to see yourself fill his shoes.

Antonio, it is a dangerous spot you are in. For all the good Zane did throughout his life he must answer at the Judgment Seat of Christ for his attacks on the Good News of Jesus Christ.

Please. I beg you. Repent. Come into agreement with the Apostle who got the Gospel that was to be preached directly from Christ Himself, and who preached the very same Gospel that every TRUE Apostle did.

1 Cor 15:1-11

To deny this message is the Gospel is to deny Christ.

Take heed of 2 John.

I appreciate your gracious yet firm reply to and appeal for Antonio’s (aka- Sock Puppet: fg me) recovery from and repentance over the heresy of the Crossless Gospel, which Zane Hodges introduced to the body of Christ.

It has been obvious to many of us that from Bob Wilkin, and right on down to younger men like Antonio, that their consciences have been seared by the reductionist heresy of the Crossless gospel. While we hope and pray for their recovery from heresy we must follow the biblical mandates to “reject” “mark” and “avoid” these teachers of reductionist heresy.

A man that is an heretick after the first and second admonition reject,” (Titus. 3:10)

Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them. For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple,” (Rom. 16:17-18).

Our other goal ought to be to protect the hearts of the simple from being deceived by advocates (and sympathizes like Rose of Rose’s Reasonings) of the Crossless & Deityless gospel. I wrote Perverse Things Draw Away Disciples to address this concern.

Thankfully, due to efforts by many of us, including yourself, the CG has been and will remain contained to within the shrinking cell of theological extremists of the Grace Evangelical Society. I spent much of the last 20 months alerting a very broad cross-section of evangelical Christianity about the reductionist assault on the content of saving faith coming from Hodges, Wilkin and GES.

One of our partners in defense of the Gospel recently wrote, “He (Hodges) gutted the Gospel of its essential content (the person and work of Christ). Not that he denied that content himself, but that he asserted that a person could be saved while disbelieving the content of the Gospel. And if the Gospel and its content are one and the same (and they are), then Hodges was in effect asserting that one could be saved while disbelieving the Gospel. He did not finish well. I don’t think you could pick a subject more important than the Gospel to err on, and Hodges erred severely concerning it. His death saddened me, for I had hoped and prayed he would change his mind and come back to true doctrine.

In any event, there are more critiques of Hodges’s Hydra Head article in development for posting after the New Year. That article exemplifies and is the sad legacy of his tragic slide into reductionist heresy. This is the doctrinal legacy of the late Zane Hodges.

Thanks for your biblical stand in defense of the Gospel against the errors of the Crossless Gospel and Lordship Salvation.

Yours in Him,

Lou
