Proof-Texting thought

In the Faith vs Faithfulness thread I just posted a thought that I think might be worth conversation.

With regard to proof-texting I wrote the following. I've been trying to find an efficient way to make this point and it seemed to fall into place just now... so it's gonna be it's own topic. :)
Context context context... let the Bible tell you what the verse is saying, not the verse tell you what the Bible is saying..

Here is a quote by Dr. Layton Talbert that appears in my book, IDOTG.

"Some theologians, willing to set aside the stringent logical demands of their theological system, have understood the limitations of logic, the need for balance, and the necessity of sticking with the explicit statements of Scripture. The theological balance is beautiful, allowing every passage to say what it says—no more, no less." (bold added)

Hey Lou,

that's an interesting quote, and I agree with it.

I've been playing it over and over in my head because I also agree with the quote (of myself.. lol) too.

I'm very interested in harmonizing the two and having a more complete thought.
