Wife's father has had a heart attack

You don't get warnings before most dramatic events. I got the news today as I was checking phone messages from work. He is awake and stable.

It seems that I need to have a that all important conversation with him about Christ. He lives in another province and I have not witnessed to him previously. I trust those in Christ will be praying for his recovery and his reception to the Gospel of Christ.

Yes. I will certainly be praying.

I had to do something similar with my grandfather (he was actually my great uncle, but that's another story). He lived in Oklahoma (read- far away from me). I got sent on a divine mission to share with him when we learned that his cancer had become fatal. He did accept Christ on his death bed.

Hopefully your wife's father is not on his death bed, but will listen just the same.

We got to see him last night. He's stable but his HR and BP are pretty high.

Obviously concerned but he's in good spirits.

I got to preach the Gospel in the hospital today in a God orchestrated way. I'm thankful, and relieved.

Kev,

Surely you realize more details are required!

How did this transpire? Who got to hear (patients, personnel....)? Did the hearer(s) seem to understand? Did anyone receive Christ, that you are aware of? Can we assume your FIL was the hearer/among the hearers?

I am glad your FIL is stable and in good spirits. I hope that continues and they are able to decrease his blood pressure.

Hi Jan,

Well we had been praying for a God orchestrated Gospel presentation. I don't mind going forward as we are commissioned to do, but we really needed God to set this one up.

We spoke alot about how people have a past and we got into a lot about his life, but didn't get to Christ or the Gospel - it just didn't go there. Then my wife and I went to WalMart and found two copies of the movie Fireproof (which we LOVED and HIGHLY recommend). This movie has a pretty good salvation scene and really shows how you can't truly love without God loving through you.

So we got him a copy and us one too. My heart seemed "settled" and I was disappointed that this seemed to be God's plan. I wanted to share the Gospel directly... but I rested in God's plan.

Well we got back to the hospital and his sister was there. She is a catholic, and wasn't interested in being "converted" but the conversation definitely "went there" in short order. I found myself preaching the Gospel standing in the ICU. There were people I didn't know who could hear and of course my Father in Law. It was non-confrontational with him because I was actually witnessing to her. But he got the benefit of hearing the whole thing. It was awesome.

When we were leaving she asked us for a ride, which we gave of course. As we were about to drop her off she started to break down her strong offense at the Gospel and asked me how she could be born again. I went through the whole Gospel with her again and we talked about a number of the usual things. She needed to know that it would be God who would be saving her, not her grasping salvation from Him.

Truly amazing.

Oh! That's wonderful!

I love it when He does things like that. :)
