Learning what it's like to be in ministry

I remember the moment I thought every hope of being in any sort of ministry was gone.. little did I know that moment would be a defining point in my life.. the point where God showed me He is real and that the service He wants is also real. Do you ever expect people to be fake only to be surprised that they are not? That's a warning sign that you yourself are a fake. I know because I was one. Oh I could pretend pretty good.. even had myself fooled. But no more. He's brought me from that dark place of ignorance to a place where I'm at least willing to let Him use me from time to time.

What's the difference you ask? I got real, and if you have 1 minute so can you.

Of all the twisted logic...

In a place I used to frequent I was accused of presenting a false Gospel this week. I preach full-heartedly the Gospel you can find linked on the left here. That we are sinners, worthy of Hell. That Christ died a substitutionary death for us, for our sins, and rose again three days later. He was seen by over 500 people. This made full payment for our sins, and this is what we must believe to be saved.

The person accusing me preaches Lordship Salvation, that to be saved one must accept Jesus as Lord of your life.

And the 'party line' goes like this. "How can you preach that a person can accept Jesus as Savior and at the same moment reject Him as Lord?"

This is one of those questions that insert an assumption so as to make them impossible to honestly answer. It's the same thing as asking "When are you going to stop beating your wife?" if asked of someone who's not beating their wife.

The person who asks is assuming, and/or projecting that you are preaching that a person can reject Christ as Lord and at the same moment accept Him as Savior.


So here's a question for the Lordship Salvation camp.

Can you accept Jesus as Lord while at the same moment reject that He is ALL of these at once?

Those who, as I do, preach that the Gospel is a free gift to those who will believe do not preach that a person may reject Christ as any of these things. We simply do not hold that the person needs to know and submit to everything about Christ to be saved by Him.

I Cor 15:1-8 records that we must know He is Christ, meaning God's Anointed - anointed to be the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world.

So Lordships? I guess the "full" Gospel just got a little longer eh? I mean really! Can a person submit to Christ as Lord while at the exact same moment REJECTING that He is the Stone that the builders rejected??

Dancing On Ice

Unless we are converted and become as little children we will not at all enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Matthew 18:3-4

Belief and Faith. These are on my heart today. Belief is looking out at the ice covering a lake of unknown depth and being convinced it WOULD hold you. An intellectual assent that if you were to step foot on it that it would likely hold you. Faith is belief in action. It's not tip towing out on the ice, walking as lightly as possible and hardly breathing for trying to hear the slightest crack. No faith is running out to the center of the ice dancing and yelling at the top of your lungs ABBA FATHER!!! ABBA FATHER!!!

My dear Pastor said today that we ought to put the full weight of ourselves on Him. If we hold anything back, if we think He can bare only so much that we need to bare even just a little then our faith is limited to an intellectual assent of belief.

Oh that His beloved would know the power of that precious Blood He spilled for on our behalf.
