Global Cooling, no Global Warming, no Global Cooling....

The worship of Science and Scientists is a never ending source of amusement. How often have I heard the words "It's been scientifically proven that ________ is true!" as an argument against the Bible. Truthfully, and without bias, no scientific fact has ever disproved anything God has written in the Bible. But that is just a bunch of "He said! She said!" nonsense isn't it?

Well sometimes I just prefer to watch the scientific "facts" argue among themselves. Like all the ideas about the Big Bang. One person gets an award for studies that show the Big Bang couldn't possibly be true, and then someone else gets an award for his studies on the after effects of the Big Bang....

But let's look a bit closer to home. Have you been paying for your shopping bags... have you been considering buying a hybrid car that is half the size, twice as expensive, and doesn't even perform as well as it's advertised to... have you been using Compact Florescent lights in your house because they use less power and last a million times longer.. (have you REPLACED as many of these as I have BTW?)... have you been doing this because we have to SAVE OUR PLANET!! Have you been sucking it up, and paying "green taxes" to help the environment because the PLANET IS IN PERIL?

Here's a question... if the climate has changed many times... and life has just "evolved" to thrive in the new environments what are we so worried about?

OK here's my point. As I was checking the technology news this morning I saw Slastdot had a post about how the ice in the Antarctic is actually GROWING. It's the second funniest thing I've read this morning... the other was about a person...

Anyway.. here it is. Argue amongst yourselves. LOL.

ICE is expanding in much of Antarctica, contrary to the widespread public belief that global warming is melting the continental ice cap.

You may remember my post about how spontaneous repentance broke out at one of my church's recent Communion services. Well God again did something amazing today. One of our Elders publicly announced his resignation from his position due to sin. He is repentant and has been restored to full fellowship as a congregant in our church. In response to this man's confession the Lord has cleansed him of all unrighteousness. That sin is not just forgiven, it has been cleansed from him.

I now stand with my Brother in the Lord and will walk with him through this season into God's promise.

Spontanious Repentance At Communion Service

On Sunday, July 6th 2008, I was at a Communion Service at City Heights Church. Pastor Frank Willoughby preached a very short message on the Lord's Table. He spoke of the purity of the table and what it means to examine yourself. He did not preach a "hell-fire" message, or even a "convicting" message. It was short and to the point. Then he did something I've never seen before. He told the congregation that we always examine ourselves privately but that today the Lord was leading him to have us do this openly. He said the microphone is open, if you want to confess, encourage, lead, witness, or repent before this congregation come.

It only took a moment and the men started coming. A few women came forward as well but it was amazing to see the men and to hear them pour out their hearts. Even I was drawn forward early on. In broken words, and tears and beautiful joy man after man came forward. There was confession, encouragement, leadership, witness to the Truth, and true repentance. There was a sweet smell and a soft feeling in the church after the service. I had never experienced anything like it. Yes we went well over our normal timings... but absolutely no one minded.

Here was God doing a work in His people. He has been putting the men of CHC through fiery trials for the last several years and sustaining us through them. He has written a testimony of Him self through HIS faithfulness. And on that Sunday morning the work He has done paid off with much fruit and glory.

Update 3: Our church was able to take in some people who needed a place to sleep and be cared for. I tried to capture the red glow on the horizon coming from Lawrencetown Beach. We were told the fire is currently 9KM wide. My camera just died.. and it's a Sony so I need it to be powered up to transfer the pictures. I'll charge the battery and then upload a couple pics.

*UPDATE* Here are some pictures taken just moments ago. About 45 mins after the last set.

Well the news is reporting that the highway to Lake Echo, NS has been closed off. Here are a couple of pictures I've taken over the last hour or so. We're starting to see an orange color to spots in the smoke. I'm not sure if that's from the sun, or from fires. I would be shocked if the fire moved that fast, but it IS remarkably windy today.
