Maybe man can't herd cats but that does not mean that God can't!!! :)Bob N.https://www.blogger.com/profile/06186312202547192540noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16963152.post-4212338298538385832012-05-16T16:09:40.761-03:002012-05-16T16:09:40.761-03:00Some of my readers may be familiar with William La...Some of my readers may be familiar with William Lane Craig's Ontological Argument for the existence of God. If not please view this short video on YouTube.

What is interesting to me with regard to Pete's article above is that many Calvinists who believe in Determinism use the Ontological Argument.

Yet it seems clear to me that a God who is sovereign enough to determine the outcome of History using beings with volition is a much higher and more powerful, and more sovereign than if God were only able to work through Determinism.

Since the argument which appears to me to be sound, says that God if He exists must be the highest possible being in order to be "necessarily existent" that God must therefore be sovereign in the way that Pete has described or He is not the highest possible being.

KevKevlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18080346872086553798noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16963152.post-19441368158806286392012-05-13T13:07:12.351-03:002012-05-13T13:07:12.351-03:00Thanks for this Pete!
The argument that says man...Thanks for this Pete!

The argument that says man being able to make a choice results in God not being God is little more than manipulation. I think we definitely need to have a healthy fear when we discuss the nature of God. We need to be exceedingly careful not to blaspheme.

However, creating a view of God, and His sovereignty which is so frail as Determinism seems to accomplish two things. First it makes God a little smaller and a little weaker than I have been lead to believe Him to be by the Scriptures. Secondly it makes exploring man's responsibility a subject fraught with danger!

KevKevlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18080346872086553798noreply@blogger.com
